THE VENUE

The Tommy Croker Memorial Park is a stunning children’s adventure playground located in the heart of Cherhill and will provide the venue for our Outdoor Cinema.

The park is popular with families from Cherhill and the surrounding area and is often a destination for people from outside of the village.

Unlike many playgrounds, the Tommy Croker Memorial Park is run by a charity and the continued provision of this fantastic facility is entirely dependent upon donations and community fundraising events, such as the annual Fun Run and this Outdoor Cinema event.

THE EVENT

Yesterday will be the Tommy Croker Memorial Park’s second outdoor cinema event.

Yesterday is a 2019 musical romantic comedy. In Lowestoft UK, Jack Malik is a frustrated musician whose musical career is going nowhere, despite the faith that his friend/manager Ellie Appleton has in him. However, on the night Jack decides to give up, the whole world is momentarily hit with a massive blackout, during which Jack is hit by a bus. Upon regaining consciousness, Jack learns to his astonishment that he is apparently now the only one who knows the music of the Beatles. Realising this improbable opportunity, Jack begins playing the music of one of the world's greatest rock bands, being forced to claim it as his own. It pays off quickly and Jack becomes a worldwide musical sensation. However, Jack finds himself drifting away from Ellie, only realising his love for her when she has become intimidated by his success. Now, Jack must make a fundamental moral decision about his music to satisfy his conscience as he decides what he truly needs.

The evening will be a great way to bring the community together, enjoy the incredible music of The Beatles and at the same time raise money to maintain and improve our cherished park.

FAQ

Do I need a paper ticket?

All ticketing is done electronically, so you will not be sent a physical ticket. After booking you will receive a confirmation email and we recommend you have this available with you on the night.

Can I buy tickets on the gate?

Subject to availability, tickets may be available to purchase on the gate, however we do expect this to be a hugely popular event and tickets are likely to sell out, so please book your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment.

Are children allowed to attend?

Guests of any age can attend subject to the following:

  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.

  • Please note the certification of the film and ensure it is suitable for your child. Please only purchase tickets for children of an appropriate age.

What happens if it rains?

The great British weather can be unpredictable at best. We cannot guarantee dry weather, even if the forecast is favourable. We will try not to let a bit of rain stop us, so please check the forecast on the day of the screening and come prepared for the conditions.

That said, we do want the event to be enjoyable for everyone so our team will be closely monitoring weather forecasts in the lead up to the event and, if conditions are looking particularly unfavourable or if there is any concern about safety, we may re-schedule the event. In this situation, all ticket holders will be informed by email.

If you do not hear from us, it can be assumed that the show will be going ahead as planned.

What happens if the showing is cancelled?

If for any reason we take the decision to cancel the show, we anticipate putting on a re-scheduled showing on Saturday the 7th of September 2024

In the event that we re-schedule and you are unable to attend on the new date, you simply need to get in touch and we will offer a full refund.

If we cancel the show without re-scheduling, you will receive a full refund.

When should I arrive?

Gates will open at 6.30 pm. The showing will start at approximately 8.15 pm.

We recommend you arrive as early as possible once the gates are open to soak up the atmosphere, reserve your spot, and purchase any food or drink before the film starts.

What should I wear?

Even on a glorious sunny day, the temperature can drop quickly after sunset.

Remember you will be sitting still for prolonged periods of time whilst enjoying the film, so even if the weather is as nice as we hope, we recommend bringing lots of layers and blankets to ensure you can enjoy the film in complete comfort.

Is the event accessible?

The events will be held in the park on short grass.

Limited parking will be available at Cherhill Village Hall, situated at the end of Mill Lane, for those with disabilities or mobility issues.

From the village hall it is a short walk along Mill Lane to the park, however there is a small hill leading up into the park which some people may struggle with.

If you have any concerns about accessibility or think you will require assistance, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to assist you.

Should you need assistance whilst at the event, please make yourselves known to our friendly stewards who will be wearing high-vis jackets and they will be happy to help.

Will there be subtitles?

There will not be subtitles for this showing.

For hearing-impaired guests, you may wish to try an app called ‘Subtitle Viewer’ where you can search for the film and play the subtitles on your phone or tablet as the film plays on the big screen. We would recommend testing this prior to the event and we cannot be held liable if this third-party app does not work for any reason.

Can I bring my own food & drink?

Your ticket includes 2 x Food or Drink Tokens. There will be a Licenced Bar, Hotdogs from the BBQ, Popcorn and Sweeties available to purchase from our Events Stalls. Card and cash payments will be accepted.

We will have vegetarian and gluten-free options available, but if you have specific dietary requirements, it is advisable to bring a little something along with you, just in case there isn’t anything you fancy at the event, or we have sold out.

You are, of course, still welcome to bring your own snacks.

Please do not bring glass or BBQs to the site.

Can I bring a tent, gazebo or umbrella?

Tents, gazebos and umbrellas are not permitted as they may block the view for others and can be a hazard in high winds.

Can I get a refund?

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled by us.

Can I smoke?

Smoking is not allowed in the park. This includes e-cigs and vapes

Will there be toilets at the event?

Yes, toilet facilities will be available, including accessible facilities at the Village Hall.

Is seating provided?

Seating is not provided. We strongly recommend you bring your own blanket, camping chair, cushion or bean bag to sit on to make your evening as comfortable as possible.

Can I bring my dog?

With the exception of assistance dogs, no animals are allowed at the park.

Is parking available?

Unfortunately, there is no parking on Mill Lane or at the Park.

There is limited parking at the village hall which is reserved for those with disabilities and mobility issues.

Please do not park along The Street as it is not wide enough to accommodate parked cars.

Middle Lane (near the school) and Olivers Hill are wide enough to accommodate cars parked on the road.

We request that you park considerately and always ensure that access is not blocked for emergency vehicles.

Will there be official photos or videos taken at the show?

Yes, filming and photography may take place at the event. By entering the event you consent to be filmed and/or photographed.
